Nine months ago, a new cohort of graduate consultants stepped into iMMERSIVE, each bringing a unique mix of skills, perspectives, and experiences. Since then, they haven’t just found their footing, they’re thriving. As they head into the final stretch of their graduate year, we caught up with Charlie, Janice, Uravi, and Abdullah to reflect on their journeys so far: the highs, the challenges, the lessons learned, and everything in between.
From Nervous First Days to Thriving on Projects
The early days of any new job come with their fair share of nerves, especially when you’re stepping into a completely new environment.
For Charlie, who came from a background in cancer sciences, this transition involved moving into the less familiar world of tech and consulting. “I didn’t initially have a lot of exposure to IT,” he admitted. “But I’ve been involved across the project lifecycle, from development and build to design and client interaction. That’s been a fantastic way to learn.”
Janice, with an MSC Computer Science and technical experience in data engineering and software development, faced a different type of challenge. “Even though I came from a tech background, everything about Salesforce was completely new to me,” she said. Starting on dashboard testing, she soon found herself contributing to one of Salesforce’s first Agentforce projects in the UK. Currently, Janice is working on a Mulesoft project in a technical build and integration role. “It’s my first time working independently on a project,” she smiled, “and honestly, my favourite so far as it’s where I feel I am adding the most value”.
Uravi’s path has been equally multifaceted. Similarly to Janice, Uravi had prior experience in data engineering and software development and was excited to bridge technical and business domains. “I completely love seeing how it all blends together,” she said. “Over the last nine months, I’ve worked across the entire project lifecycle, from design to build to testing, gaining confidence and independence along the way. It’s been so rewarding”.
Abdullah’s journey began with an internal project enhancing our own Salesforce Org, which he used as vital preparation for working with clients. “Initially, I was representing myself and managing an internal client, but with external projects, I also represent Immersive,” he explained. “It’s different, but really rewarding.” Abdullah’s recent roles have been supporting a Salesforce implementation project through the build and testing phases, helping guide it towards go-live. “It’s not just about supporting the client. I’ve also learned how important it is to work effectively with the team.”
A People-First Business with a Warm Heart
While the technical growth and varied experiences have been invaluable, it’s the people and culture that truly make Immersive stand out.
For Janice, it’s the openness of the team that’s made the biggest impact. “I was a little nervous to ask questions at first,” she recalled. “But everyone’s been so open, so willing to share their knowledge. It’s created space for me to try different things and take on new roles.”
That supportive environment is something Uravi feels deeply too. “The team is exceptional. Everyone is helpful, friendly, and you genuinely feel like people enjoy being in the office,” she said. “It makes a huge difference when you’re learning something new every day.”
Abdullah agreed: “What I love is how closely knit the team is. You can see what others are working on, learn from them, and feel part of a bigger picture. It’s not just about your own project, it’s about being included in the whole experience.”
“I’ve genuinely enjoyed building connections with clients, but also just feel excited to come into work” – Charlie
Growing into Themselves
Each graduate entered the programme with different goals, but all have experienced significant personal and professional growth.
Charlie, for example, has seen a transformation in both his technical abilities and confidence. “I really feel like my soft skills have developed, especially when presenting and just feeling comfortable in a professional space,” he said. “My curiosity has grown too. Asking more questions has definitely helped develop both my technical and human skill sets.”
For Abdullah, the biggest transformation has been in his interpersonal skills. “I came from a software background, but I wanted to get better at working with people, both clients and teams,” he explained. “Now I’m not just writing code, I’m actually applying it in a practical way and learning how to collaborate effectively.”
“I’ve also learned not to shy away from things I haven’t done before because that’s often where the biggest growth happens.” – Janice.
Uravi’s development has been evident in both her increasing responsibility and the certifications she’s earned. She now holds four Salesforce certifications and is independently managing key parts of projects. “Learning how to navigate digital transformation from start to finish has been invaluable,” she said.
Looking Ahead
With a few months left in the graduate programme, each grad is looking forward to what’s next.
Abdullah is focusing on delivery and community: “We’ve got project releases coming up, and I want to make sure everything goes smoothly. I’ve also set up a run club within Immersive and I’m planning a fundraising event, which I’m really excited about.”
“I want to learn more from other teams too, like marketing, finance. I’ve got three months, and I want to take in as much as I can.” – Uravi.
Charlie, although enjoying his rotation in functions, is especially excited about his upcoming rotation in Solutions. “It’s something I feel drawn to, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where it leads,” he said.
Janice is eager to continue building on the progress she’s made. “I’m excited to keep coming into the office, continuing my project, and working with different people,” she said. “I just want to keep growing.”
Advice to the Next Cohort
As October approaches and a new group of graduates prepares to join Immersive, our current grads offered some thoughtful advice.
“Be open to everything,” said Uravi. “Don’t restrict yourself. Ask as many questions as you can, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes, that’s how you learn. Also, lean into your mentors; they have so much to share.”
“Talk to people, get to know them. The friendships I made really have carried me through this year.” – Charlie
Janice, reflecting on her own experience added, “Don’t be afraid, that’s what I would tell myself if I could go back in time.”
Abdullah advised the future grads; “Try not to put too much pressure on yourself, everything will work out. Explore the different sides of Immersive, even things that don’t sit directly in your job description. It’s not just about the role, it’s also about what you take away from it. Join in and have fun with it.”
“Be eager to learn. Don’t shy away from something just because you haven’t done it before. You’re so supported here.” – Janice
Final Thoughts
In just nine months, these graduate consultants have become integral members of the Immersive team. They’ve explored, adapted, built, tested, collaborated, and grown both together and individually. Their journey at IMMERSIVE so far is a testament to what’s possible when curiosity and talent meets opportunity in the right environment.
